OneAIM offers a range of programs (e.g. AIM Connect, AIM Innovate) and opportunities to explore the interdisciplinary field bridging medicine and technology. Our initiative is designed to foster unique networking connections and develop a wide array of skills. Our biggest program, AIMConnect, provides an immersive batch experience for those passionate about advancing at the intersection of medical and technological innovation. The founding of OneAIM was made possible through the uniting of forces of variable students, including contributions from the former LMU AIM initiative.
AIM Innovate aims to promote diversity in STEM and healthcare by encouraging participation from underrepresented groups and fostering interdisciplinary collaboration. It focuses on empowering participants to innovate and solve complex healthcare challenges through creative problem-solving and a culture of continuous learning. The program is committed to creating a supportive, inclusive community.
It is important to note that English is the primary language of instruction and communication. Applicants should possess good English skills, as this will be essential for participating in the diverse range of activities, including visits to labs, startups, and other organizations. Even though the startups are based in and around Munich, we make a concerted effort to conduct our program in English to maintain inclusivity and accessibility for all participants.
AIM Innovate offers numerous networking opportunities with professionals in the MedTech industry, including workshops, guest lectures, and mentorship from experts.
The group will define the project topics, allowing participants to choose based on their interests, expertise, and the goals they aim to achieve through the project. This approach encourages collaboration and ensures that the projects are engaging and meaningful to all members involved.
The assessment criteria for the program encompass participants’ understanding and application of key concepts, development of technical and analytical skills, quality of project work, engagement levels, professionalism, and ability to reflect on personal growth. Evaluations are conducted through a mix of assignments, presentations, peer and instructor feedback, and self-assessment to ensure a holistic measurement of each participant’s progress and achievements.
Participants can contribute to the OneAIM community post-program by serving as alumni mentors, sharing expertise through workshops, participating in networking events, and engaging in collaborative projects. Their involvement enriches the community, fosters continuous learning, and strengthens professional networks, thereby supporting the development of future members.
Hackathon is composed of the words “Hack” or “Hacking” and “Marathon”. At a hackathon, small teams develop creative digital solutions (e.g., in the form of an app or web application) within a short period of time (hours or a few days) based on predefined questions (“Challenges”).
To participate in the Health Hackathon, you will need a computer with reliable internet access, software development tools relevant to your project (e.g., IDEs for coding, data analysis software), collaboration tools (like Slack or Microsoft Teams for communication, and GitHub for version control), and any specific hardware or software pertinent to your hackathon challenge, such as wearable device SDKs for health tracking projects. Access to research databases or APIs for health data might also be beneficial.
The team behind OneAIM is a diverse and dynamic group, embodying a rich variety of backgrounds, disciplines, and perspectives. It is composed from across the fields of medicine, engineering, business, and technology, ensuring a multidisciplinary approach to healthcare innovation.
Importantly, the team is strongly committed to female empowerment, with significant representation of women in leadership and mentorship roles.
